The Shadow Laughs

I lie awake, staring at the silent shadow across the room. I can’t shake the feeling that someone is watching me. I try to convince myself it’s just my imagination, but I can’t stop the cold dread from creeping up my spine.

I sit up and scan the dark room, but there’s nothing there. Just an empty bed and a desk with a laptop sitting on top. I let out a shaky breath and slump back down into bed.

I should have known this would happen. Moving to a new city always makes me feel paranoid. But I’m sure everything will be okay. There’s no reason for anyone to hurt me here.

I try to sleep again, but I can’t stop thinking about the shadow. It feels like eyes are boring into my skull, making me shiver in terror.

Suddenly, there’s a loud crash from downstairs! My heart races as I sit up again and listen carefully. Is someone breaking into my house?

I quickly slip out of bed and tiptoe towards the door, trying not to make any noise. As I reach for the handle, I hear another crash followed by a scream! It sounds like someone is being attacked!

Without thinking any further, I run downstairs towards the sound of the screaming…

I race down the stairs and towards the source of the screaming, only to find a shadow standing in the corner laughing hysterically while a woman is being slaughtered right in front of me. I can’t believe this is happening!

I try to run, but the shadow blocks my way. It starts advancing on me, laughing all the while. I back away until I’m pressed against the wall, trembling in terror.

The shadow lunges at me and I scream, but then everything goes black.
